Flat & Roommate Information:
- Flat details (name, address, invite codes)
- Roommate names and relationships

IMPORTANT: We do NOT collect or store your bank account numbers, credit/debit card details, payment credentials, or PINs. All financial tracking is for record-keeping only.

- Notification preferences
Technical Data:
- Device information (type, OS version, app version)
- Device identifiers (for push notifications)

- Only you and your flatmates can access flat data
- Role-based permissions (Viewer, Member, Admin)
- Secure authentication via Firebase
Infrastructure:
- Data stored on Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore)
- Regular security updates and monitoring
- Automated backups
However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Sharing Your Information
We share your information only:
- With your flatmates (as per app functionality)
- With service providers who assist in app operations
- When required by law
- With your explicit consent
What We DO NOT Do:

Data Storage Location:
Your data is stored on Firebase servers, which may be located in various countries. By using RoomHives, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data in these locations.
7. Your Rights

How to Exercise Your Rights:
Delete Your Account & Data:
- Go to Settings → Profile → Danger Zone → Delete Account
- Your personal data will be deleted within 30 days
- Shared financial records will be anonymized
Export Your Data:
- Go to Settings → Profile → Export Data
- You will receive a complete copy of your data
8. Data Retention
We retain your data for the following periods:
Active Account:
- Account data: Duration of account
- Flat data: While you are a member
- Expenses & bills: Duration of account
After Account Deletion:
- Personal data: Deleted within 30 days
- Financial records: Anonymized and retained for 7 years (for tax/audit requirements)
- Shared expenses: Anonymized as "[Deleted User]" for other users' records
- Analytics data: Deleted within 90 days
You can request earlier deletion by contacting privacy@roomhives.com, subject to legal requirements.
9. Children's Privacy
RoomHives is intended for users 13 years of age or older.
If you are under 18 years of age, we recommend that you obtain consent from your parent or legal guardian before using this app.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information as soon as possible.

10. Privacy Compliance
We comply with applicable data protection regulations including GDPR and other relevant privacy laws, adhering to principles of consent, purpose limitation, and data minimization.
- Currency preferences can be set in your profile settings
- We respect your rights to access, correct, erase, and manage your data
- You can exercise your rights through in-app settings or by contacting us
- We respond to data requests within 30 days

We may update this policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Your continued use of RoomHives after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
